Duane Wiebe .500 Jeffery Take down

Duane Wiebe .500 Jeffery Take down

SKU: 6112601DW

Duane Wiebe is a master of both metal and wood. This .500 Jeffery takedown is one of the greatest examples of the work he's capable of that I've seen. Built on a 1909 Mauser action that Duane heavily modified, it features his custom bottom metal, extended top and bottom  tangs, and an Orbendorff bolt handle with four panels of checkering.

A rear square bridge was added that houses a peep sight as well as the release for the claw mounts. A tab was added to the bolt release and has been finely checkered. The three-position side lever safety and trigger are both Recknagel and function wonderfully.

The stock is crafted out of a stellar piece of English walnut and features an English-style pancake cheekpiece, trap door grip cap,  and a widow's peak Silvers pad. The checkering is perfectly executed flat top with a mullered border.

The takedown mechanism is a work of genius! The lock up is very tight and easy to operate. The barrel is ported along the banded front sight. This is a low round count gun with sharp rifling and almost no wear. The rust bluing retains 99% of its finish, and the stock's finish is near perfect with a couple of minor handling marks.
